Student U Honor System
Honor is a matter of cooperation with the community and all its members. In order to progress as individuals and as a group, we must develop trust between one another - trust among students, trust among faculty and trust between the two. Student U wants to stress the importance of developing this trust and the community responsibility that we have to one another. Striving to build this attitude of trust will help to establish the foundation of a personal code of ethics that is one of the major goals of Student U. A successful community is built on the respectful and honorable character of all its members.
The honor system is not simply a set of rules or laws; it is a code of values that guides the behavior of a responsible member of the Student U community. This honor system is designed to make our community a better place for all of its members. It is the framework in which all members of the community develop their own individual systems of values in preparation for becoming responsible young men and women.
Attendance Policy
Students are expected to be at Student U every day throughout the summer
and to report to classes on time. It is important that every student is
present and prepared for learning for each day of classes. A student with
three or more unexcused absences may be subject to disciplinary action,
including possible expulsion from the program. Anticipated absences must
be arranged with the student's grade head. If a student is late, he or
she must report to the front office with a note explaining his or her
tardiness before going to class.
Dress Code
Student U students should dress in a manner that does not distract or
offend members of the Student U community. Students are expected to be
appropriately dressed at all times. We ask parents to respect and reinforce
this dress code as part of upholding Student U's community standards.
Technology and cell phone policy
Technology can be beneficial to the student's education if used appropriately.
However, when used inappropriately, computers, iPods, mp3 players, and
other electronic devices can interfere with the learning environment.
Computers and portable electronics are only to be used at Student U as part
of academic projects that are actively supervised by a Student U teacher.
Personal cell phones, iPods and mp3 players are not to be used during
the school day.
