Donations to Student U are vital to our mission to empower students in Durham to take ownership of their education by developing the academic and personal skills they need to realize their full potential in school and beyond. Each gift to Student U directly benefits the program’s students and teachers in the following ways:

• Curriculum development and program supplies;
• Training and mentoring for college age teachers;
• Experiential learning and special events which supplement our academic schedule; and,
• Salaries for teachers and staff

Student U is in its third year of programming, with 150 sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students working with 36 college-age teachers from University of UNC-CH, NCCU, and Duke University. As our students and teachers engage in our year-round activities, as we prepare to pilot our high school program, and as we recruit our next classes of students and teachers to join the Student U family, we are in the active process of enhancing our program. Working with Student U’s Advisory Board, staff will be analyzing evaluation material to ensure that our students are gaining the skills they need to succeed in school and beyond.

Student U is a non-profit organization and all donations are tax deductable. Checks may be payable to Student U.
